What Texas auto insurance covers
Texas auto insurance is a contract that pays for damage a driver causes to other people and their property. When the policy includes it, the contract covers the driver’s own car too.
Texas requires every driver to carry liability coverage at three limits, set by Texas Transportation Code §601.072 and usually shortened to 30/60/25:
- $30,000 for injury to one person
- $60,000 for injuries in one accident
- $25,000 for damage to another person’s property
The 30/60/25 limits are a floor, not a recommendation. Two more coverages are optional in Texas, and every policy must offer both:
- Personal injury protection (PIP) pays medical bills and lost wages regardless of fault (Texas Insurance Code §1952.152).
- Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage steps in when the driver who hits you carries too little or nothing (Texas Insurance Code §1952.101).
A driver can reject either one, but only in writing.
What Aulona Insurance Group can place
Aulona Insurance Group places personal auto coverage across the whole state of Texas, for standard risk and for non-standard risk.
Aulona Insurance Group places auto coverage for:
- Vehicles owned outright, financed, or leased
- Commute, personal, and recreational use
- Drivers who need an SR-22 after a DWI, a license suspension, or an accident without coverage
- Drivers with tickets, at-fault accidents, or a lapse on the record, on a non-standard policy
Every policy is placed through an insurer Aulona Insurance Group holds an appointment with, and the agency does not quote insurers it does not represent.
Luka Cenaj, the agency’s licensed principal, goes through the coverage with the driver on a recorded call before anything is bound.
Where Aulona Insurance Group is not the right fit
Aulona Insurance Group cannot place personal auto coverage for every vehicle, and this list is better read before the call than after it.
Outside the markets Aulona Insurance Group holds:
- Vehicles with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $150,000 or more
- Vehicles built before 1981
- Vehicles without a seventeen-digit VIN
- Recreational vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, trailers, golf carts, buses, hearses, and heavy or semi trucks
- Non-owner policies, except a non-owner SR-22 for a listed driver
- Storage-only and gap-only policies
- Any vehicle garaged at a post office box address
A vehicle used for business, or titled to an LLC, corporation, partnership or trust, is not written on a personal auto policy. Aulona Insurance Group places it as commercial auto instead. See Commercial Auto Insurance in Texas. Life, health, Medicare and disability are not written at the agency on any line.
What moves the price of a Texas auto policy
The premium on a Texas auto policy is set by the insurer, not by Aulona Insurance Group.
A Texas auto rate is assembled from the coverage chosen, the record behind it and the county the vehicle is garaged in:
- Liability limits above 30/60/25, which raise premium and protection together
- The deductible on comprehensive and collision, where a higher deductible means a lower premium and a larger bill at claim time
- The driving record, where a ticket, an at-fault accident, or a coverage gap stays on the rating for years
- The vehicle’s age, value, and repair cost
- The county where the vehicle is garaged
How the garaging county enters a Texas auto rate
Texas auto rates are filed by rating territory, and a territory is assembled out of counties. Texas Insurance Code §2253.001 stops an insurer that subdivides a county into rating territories from charging any subdivision more than 15 percent above another for identical coverage, and 28 TAC §5.9960 lets it exceed that only on a rate that is actuarially sound and supported by data filed with the Texas Department of Insurance.
The address that rates the policy is where the vehicle is parked overnight, which is a different question from where the owner works or where the mail goes.
Aulona Insurance Group publishes no premium on this site and does not rank insurers by price. The number comes from the insurer, on the call.
What Texas accepts as proof of financial responsibility
Texas requires financial responsibility for a vehicle operated in this state under Texas Transportation Code §601.051, and §601.053 names the forms a driver can exhibit to prove it.
Texas accepts any of these:
- A motor vehicle liability insurance policy written at 30/60/25 or higher
- A surety bond filed with the Texas Department of Public Safety
- A $55,000 deposit with the Texas Comptroller, under Texas Transportation Code §601.122
- A cash or cashier’s check deposit of at least $55,000 with the county judge of the county where the vehicle is registered, under Texas Transportation Code §601.123
- A certificate of self-insurance issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety
A liability policy is the common route, and it is the only one of the five Aulona Insurance Group places.
A driver has to produce that evidence when a peace officer asks for it, and an image on a phone screen satisfies the request.
How a Texas auto policy gets placed through Aulona Insurance Group
Aulona Insurance Group starts every auto policy the same way, and no premium appears on this site at any point:
- Answer eight questions on this site, which takes about two minutes and ends with a one-time code sent to your mobile number.
- Take the call from Luka Cenaj, who goes through the vehicles, the household, and the coverage the driver needs.
- Let Aulona Insurance Group take the policy to the markets it holds appointments with.
No policy is quoted or bound without that phone call.
A driver who would rather skip the form can use the callback option on any screen, leave a name and a number, and get the same call.
Drivers who prefer Albanian can have the whole conversation in Albanian, because Luka Cenaj takes the call in either language.
Auto insurance across Texas, and by situation
Auto insurance in Texas is rated by county, so the same driver in the same car pays a different premium in Houston, Lubbock, and McKinney. Hail in North Texas and the Panhandle, theft in Houston, and uninsured drivers in the border metros sit inside the rate for those counties.
Aulona Insurance Group covers sixteen Texas cities on their own pages, from Houston and San Antonio through the Rio Grande Valley to the Panhandle. Each city page names the local risk that drives the rate there.
Drivers whose situation is the issue rather than their address have their own pages too:
- An SR-22 filing
- Coverage after a DWI
- Coverage after a lapse
- High-risk placement after a conviction, a suspension or a lapse
Each of those pages says plainly what Aulona Insurance Group can place and what it cannot.
