What auto insurance covers for a Dallas driver

Texas Transportation Code §601.072 requires 30/60/25 of a Dallas driver and of every other driver in the state, and the Texas Auto Insurance page works through each limit, personal injury protection (PIP) under Texas Insurance Code §1952.152, and the uninsured motorist offer under Texas Insurance Code §1952.101.

Dallas parts company with that statewide floor on the physical damage side, where theft and hail are both comprehensive claims and liability pays for neither.

FEMA has held the City of Dallas in the National Flood Insurance Program’s regular phase since March 16, 1983 as community 480171, and the Dallas flood insurance rate map now in force is dated November 21, 2024. The program behind that map insures buildings and contents, so a flooded Dallas vehicle stays a comprehensive claim.

Which county a Dallas address rates in

The City of Dallas covers ground in five counties, Dallas, Collin, Denton, Kaufman and Rockwall, and FEMA lists all five against the city’s National Flood Insurance Program community record.

County is the unit a rating territory sits on. Texas Insurance Code §2253.001 stops an insurer that subdivides a county into rating territories from charging any subdivision more than 15 percent above another for identical coverage, and 28 TAC §5.9960 lets it exceed that only on a rate that is actuarially sound and supported by data filed with the Texas Department of Insurance.

Two households with Dallas mailing addresses can therefore sit in two different rating territories. A house near White Rock Lake is appraised by the Dallas Central Appraisal District, a house in the northern reach of the city limits by the Collin Central Appraisal District, and a house on the eastern edge by the Kaufman Central Appraisal District.

Give the garaging address, not the mailing address.

What Dallas drivers put in as claims

Vehicle theft is the first of three Dallas claims with a public source behind it. The Texas Department of Public Safety publishes a monthly auto theft report built from Texas Crime Information Center entries, and the Dallas Police Department is one of the agencies feeding it.

Hail is the second. The National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas forecast office issues severe thunderstorm and hail warnings for Dallas County, and NOAA’s Storm Events Database logs each of those reports by county.

Crash volume is the third, and TxDOT lists the City of Dallas on its own line in the annual Crashes and Injuries by Cities and Towns tables drawn from the Crash Records Information System.

Theft and hail are comprehensive claims. Crashes land on collision and liability.

What Aulona Insurance Group places for Dallas drivers

Aulona Insurance Group places personal auto for Dallas drivers on Texas Agency License #3481412, for standard and non-standard risk, and the vehicles, uses and driver situations the agency writes are listed on the Texas Auto Insurance page.

A Dallas file most often arrives as an SR-22 after a DWI or a suspension, or as a record carrying tickets, an at-fault accident or a lapse in coverage.

Aulona Insurance Group quotes no insurer it does not represent, and Luka Cenaj, the agency’s licensed principal, goes through the coverage with the driver on a recorded call before anything is bound.

Where Aulona Insurance Group is not the right fit

Aulona Insurance Group cannot place a Dallas vehicle with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $150,000 or more, one built before 1981, one without a seventeen-digit VIN, a recreational vehicle, all-terrain vehicle, trailer, golf cart, bus, hearse or heavy truck, a storage-only or gap-only policy, or any vehicle garaged at a post office box address.

Non-owner policies are declined except a non-owner SR-22 for a listed driver.

A vehicle used for business, or titled to an LLC, corporation, partnership or trust, is not written on a personal auto policy. Aulona Insurance Group places it as commercial auto instead. See Commercial Auto Insurance in Texas.

What moves the price of a Dallas auto policy

The premium on a Dallas auto policy is set by the insurer, not by Aulona Insurance Group, and no figure for it appears anywhere on this site.

A Dallas rate is assembled from the record, the limits and deductibles chosen, and the county territory the vehicle is garaged in:

  • The driving record, which is rated separately from the address; a ticket, an at-fault accident, or a gap in coverage stays on the rating for years
  • Any liability limit bought above the 30/60/25 floor
  • The comprehensive and collision deductible, where a higher deductible means a smaller premium and a bigger bill after a hailstorm
  • The vehicle’s age, value, and what a Dallas body shop charges to repair it
  • The county and territory the vehicle is garaged in

Dallas theft and North Texas hail reach the rate through the territory, not through the driver.

Working with Aulona Insurance Group from Dallas

Aulona Insurance Group works from one office, in Plano, and serves Dallas by phone. No visit to Dallas or to Plano is part of placing coverage.

No Dallas driver has to drive anywhere, because the placement runs on the phone from the form forward: eight questions here, about two minutes, ending with a one-time code texted to your mobile number.

Luka Cenaj calls back to go through the vehicles, the drivers in the household and the coverage, then takes the risk to the markets the agency holds appointments with. Nothing is quoted or bound without that call, and Dallas drivers who would rather speak Albanian can have the entire conversation in Albanian.
