What auto insurance covers for a Corpus Christi driver

Texas Transportation Code §601.072 fixes the liability minimum for a Corpus Christi driver at 30/60/25, and the Texas Auto Insurance page sets out that minimum together with personal injury protection (PIP) under Texas Insurance Code §1952.152 and the uninsured motorist offer under Texas Insurance Code §1952.101.

Corpus Christi turns the question to the other half of the contract, because a named storm reaches a vehicle through comprehensive coverage and through nothing else.

FEMA has carried the City of Corpus Christi in the National Flood Insurance Program’s regular phase since July 23, 1971 as community 485464, and the city’s current flood insurance rate map is dated October 13, 2022. The program behind that map writes buildings and contents, never vehicles.

Which county a Corpus Christi address rates in

Corpus Christi is the seat of Nueces County, on the Gulf side of the Coastal Bend.

Texas Insurance Code §2253.001 stops an insurer that subdivides a county into rating territories from charging any subdivision more than 15 percent above another for identical coverage, and 28 TAC §5.9960 lets it exceed that only on a rate that is actuarially sound and supported by data filed with the Texas Department of Insurance.

Coastal Nueces County is therefore not one undifferentiated rate. A vehicle garaged on Ocean Drive and a vehicle garaged off Saratoga Boulevard can land in different territories under the same filing.

The Nueces County Appraisal District appraises both of those addresses for tax, while the insurer rates the one the vehicle is garaged at.

Give the address where the vehicle spends the night.

What a named storm does to a Corpus Christi auto policy

Named storms are the Corpus Christi exposure, and the warnings come from inside the city. The National Weather Service Corpus Christi forecast office issues tropical storm and hurricane watches and warnings for Nueces County, and NOAA sets the Atlantic hurricane season at June 1 through November 30.

Comprehensive is the coverage that answers storm damage to a vehicle:

  • Wind lifting a carport panel onto the hood
  • Hailstones through the back glass
  • A limb off a live oak on the roof
  • Street water deep enough to reach the engine

Flood damage to a car is a comprehensive claim, never a liability claim, and the National Flood Insurance Program does not cover vehicles at all. Salt corrosion is wear, and no auto policy pays for wear.

What Aulona Insurance Group places for Corpus Christi drivers

Aulona Insurance Group places personal auto for Corpus Christi drivers under Texas Agency License #3481412, for standard and non-standard risk, and the Texas Auto Insurance page lists every vehicle and use the agency writes.

Coastal Bend households tend to arrive with several vehicles and several deductibles, teenage drivers on a parent’s policy included, and with one question ahead of the rest: whether comprehensive coverage is on each of them before June.

Every Corpus Christi policy is placed with an insurer Aulona Insurance Group holds an appointment with, and Luka Cenaj, the agency’s licensed principal, walks through the coverage on a recorded call before anything is bound.

Where Aulona Insurance Group is not the right fit

Aulona Insurance Group turns away a vehicle at $150,000 or more in manufacturer’s suggested retail price, a vehicle built before 1981, a vehicle without a seventeen-digit VIN, a recreational vehicle, all-terrain vehicle, trailer, golf cart, bus, hearse or heavy truck, a storage-only or gap-only policy, and a post office box garaging address.

A boat, a trailer and a personal watercraft sit outside those markets too, which matters on the Coastal Bend, and a non-owner policy is declined unless it is a non-owner SR-22 for a listed driver.

A vehicle used for business, or titled to an LLC, corporation, partnership or trust, is not written on a personal auto policy. Aulona Insurance Group places it as commercial auto instead. See Commercial Auto Insurance in Texas.

What moves the price of a Corpus Christi auto policy

The premium on a Corpus Christi auto policy comes from the insurer, and Aulona Insurance Group publishes no figure for it and ranks no insurer on this site.

A Corpus Christi rate starts at the driving record and ends at the Nueces County territory behind the garaging address:

  • The driving record behind each listed driver, since a ticket, an at-fault accident or a gap rates for years after the fact
  • Whatever liability limits sit above the statutory 30/60/25
  • The comprehensive deductible, which is the storm number, and the collision deductible, which is not
  • The vehicle’s age, value, and what a Corpus Christi body shop charges to repair it
  • Which Nueces County territory the garaging address falls in

Nueces County storm exposure reaches the rate through the territory filing, not through the driver’s record.

Working with Aulona Insurance Group from Corpus Christi

Aulona Insurance Group works from one office, in Plano, and serves Corpus Christi by phone. No visit to Corpus Christi or to Plano is part of placing coverage.

Distance changes nothing about a Corpus Christi placement, because it runs remotely: eight questions here, about two minutes, then a one-time code texted to your mobile number.

Luka Cenaj calls back to go through every vehicle, every driver in the household and the coverage the situation calls for, then takes the risk to the markets the agency holds. Nothing is quoted or bound before that call, and Corpus Christi drivers who prefer Albanian can have the entire conversation in Albanian.
